Reading #46

We know that the God of all creation, is the same God and that this God does measure the differences between us and embraces all that live here on his earth; his creation.

Sounds like Christian scripture. There is only one God though. One God, who loves you. Who wishes you would follow his Son, Jesus, and be there in Heaven.

Reading #42

The red man is a savage and doesn't understand the sound of the cities, where the Indian only likes the sound of the wind, the insects and nature.

I agree and disagree with this statement. The sound of cities versus the sound of nature are both very beautiful. We can see beauty wherever we want. We can still see God in anything and in anyone. We must find Christ in anyone and everything we do.

Reading #41

Civilization has been thrust upon me, and it has not added one whip to my love, truth, honest and generously.

In every act of civilization there politics, in politics there stupid politician's who have corrupted minds by the devil. When you have people like that, you have people who want to change and corrupt the system of America and any other forms of civilization. We must know what is good and what is bad, it must not change the way we think and conduct ourselves.

Reading #40

We can only judge what is proper and right. The white men do bad all their lives but repent on there death bed, that shouldn't be right.

That's a false statement, a true Christian repents at confession, there supposed to do good, but when the temptation of sin and evil is there and we fail a test of God then we do bad, buts that why we repent. A true Christian should repent as much as they could.

Reading #39

They are heartless, they had made there people slaves, they hated the black men, the slaves have children born to them the same color. (The Indians view on the American (white) people.)

I can agree and disagree with them because to call us heartless is pushing it. Only a vast majority had slaves, but there was lots of good and true Christians who valued the life of everyone regardless there race and culture. There's good people everywhere, even in the worst place on earth, there are good people everywhere, if you open your hearts, you'll find them.

Reading #38

They get caught up in  money, business, and attention, and they soon forget about there soul, there spirit.

Money wont get us to Heaven? How does money help our souls get closer to God? It doesn't, give our money to the poor, do what we have to do to be stewards of this world. Love not just yourself but everyone. We should our lives in the fear of a loving God.

Reading #36

No buffalo or black tailed deer. Our Indian ways are almost gone too. The next generation after me can read and write, they grew up in a "white men" school. I see my Indian village, dying. I see the shadows and the war of the river. My Indian life is gone forever.

The way of the Indian is gone forever, the odds of beginning it back are gone. The whit men, adopted their own ways, and out numbers the Indians. Making them gone forever. They must adapt now to the American way because if they rebel again, they will loose everything.

Reading #34

Where the warriors today? Who killed them? Where is our lands? Who owns them? I would die for my people and my country.

We live in times theft. Whatever the white men did to the Indians, they gave it back. There were pushed out of there land. They were killed and humiliated. They lost there warriors, who were killed by the gun. They lost there land that they were forced to push out of.

Reading #33

Don't greed, tragedies do happen. Death comes, and it comes from the great spirit. What is in the past and the future should not be greedy.

Being greedy is wrong. We should never be greedy. We should never be upset when death comes. Worry about death when it comes, don't worry about it now, worry about it when your older. Seize the day, making everyday worth living.

Reading #31

Nothing was wild but everything was free from fear. The faith of an Indian and a white differ from this.

They live in times where they are not afraid of anything. The wilderness is something that strengths their faith. They believe the nature is apart of their faith and brings them closer to God. They learn form their mistakes, they realize we came from nature, we come from the one true God.

Reading #28

Animals have rights. They treat animals as if they were part of there tribe.

We shouldn't be rude to animals by enslaving them for our own personal agenda. We should treat them as there our part of us. We share this world with them. They don't destroy the world, if anything they make it more clean. They make this world worth living. Imagine if there was no animals, then is world wouldn't be where it is today. Its interesting how every creature as a role on this earth, that is because the Creator created it that way, and our Creator is God the Father,

Reading #23

Love is something we seek, that we all should have. Without we become weak and emotionally sad.

Love is something we all seek because when we filled by it by either, friends or family, we feel happy inside and outside. But you know who really loves us, Jesus. He died for us. He took the sacrifice for our sins. He lifted up Adam and everyone else from Hades and brought them to Heaven. He loved us, this is a kind of love that we shall truly understand till were at judgement day.

Reading #17

When you begin a great work, take your time to complete it, don't rush through it

I can say this about the Monks who hand paint icons. That's a beautiful and great work. It doesn't take them 5 minutes to complete it. It maybe take them 5 months, the amount of prayers that are being said while there painting it, that what makes them so Holy. We don't praise the icons, we venerate the person depicted on it.

Reading #18

Were poor because we are honest

By honest, he means humble, and a truth speaker. He didn't have to lie to become famous. Nor did he inherit lots of money. He stood true to his faith. The times may be hard for him, but he wont give up.

Reading #19

Serving your nation is more then enough of a reward of doing a brave and worthy action

I can compare this statement to the soldiers fighting against the ISIS. Those are true heroes. Those are the people who are doing brave and worthy actions everyday. They protected us from getting bombed, like that school of innocent children did yesterday. They do get paid money, some get medals of honor etc. but to be a solider means you are willing to put your life on the line for not only me but all of us.

Reading #26

We don't want Churches because it causes arguments among ourselves.

I don't even know where to began to disagree with this because Christ established his Church, when Peter announced that he is the Son of God. The Church is Heaven. The psalms, liturgies we chant in Church is what were going to do in Heaven. Anyone who wishes not have a Church has a corrupted mind. A mind corrupted by the demon himself, for it is his job to keep us away from the Church and he is doing his job very well for the Cheyennes.

Reading #27

There's a force that comes and blows through all things. All things are brought together by the same great force and spirit.

This force is the HOLY SPIRIT, the Holy Spirit is in all things. We can embody the Holy Spirit as did the Apostles, Saints, and all the disciples present day. The Holy Spirit has many gifts for us, its one of many ways on how God loves us, but what do we do? Do we love him back? Do we go to Church on Sunday? Or do we live our lives with the devil in our minds?

Reading #25

The comfort of feeling safe with a person.

Can we feel comfort from someone who is in our family, friends, spouse, etc. A person who gives us comfort is someone we can trust with our feelings and emotions. Someone who we can always know that their there for you for both the good and the bad. This is a person who we can count on at any given moment to be there for us.

Reading #24

My heart is filled of joy when I see you there.

Enjoying the presence of others makes us happy. One person can make a difference by cheering someone up when there down, making them feel loved when they feel hated. A single act of kindness and love can make someone feel happy. That's what were called to do in this world, make someone feel happy and loved as Jesus did to everyone he encountered on earth and everyone to this present day.

Reading #22

Everyone should be loved and give love as well. Without love we can no longer have that happiness that only love can give us.

Every human being seeks to be loved. They need to be loved to receive that happiness. What some people don't understand is that there is a hole our hearts that seeks to be love and to be happy, the hole cant be filled y any other human nor object, but it is filled by Christ our Savior. He loves us more then we think we love someone else, he makes us happy, but all we have to do is reach and accept his call.

Reading #21

Try do something difficult for your people. Help everyone, have pity on them and love them through everything. Give them your all.

Reminds me Christ preaching when he was on earth 2000 years ago. We live in times where we only care about ourselves and no one else. We need love our neighbor and care for them as we care for ourselves. We need to love one another as we love ourselves.

Redaing #20

Look and listen for the welfare of all. Also, have the present and the coming generations inside of you.

We can learn from all people, from elders to the children. We have to have in mind todays world, how can we make it better? What can I do? And by doing that we also have to have in mind, what will I leave behind for the next generation, and the generation after that. Will I leave this world a mess? Or will I leave it in better condition then what I found it?

Reading #15

When you start something, don't expect to finish it right away. Let nothing stop you for what you have started.

I can compare this when seeing the monks making an icon. It doesn't take them 5 minutes, it takes them 5 months. Patience and prayer is what they live by when they make it. The icons are very beautiful and an essential part of the Orthodox Christian faith. Its very beautiful seeing the icons and also seeing the people venerate them.

Reading #14

We were made to respect the elders for they are full of wisdom and knowledge. We weren't aloud to talk to the elders unless I was requested to do so.

We live in times were in each generation something is being brought or introduced. My generation has better technology then what we had in the 90s. Imagine what my children will have, they will flying cars and under water bikes etc. All kinds of  cool stuff. However, with all this rise in technology, we loose something, parts of our past. That's why the elders should be respected because they have the knowledge that we don't.

Reading #12

Observe comes with reward, interest, wonder and admiration all grew. This appreciation was the foundations of Lakota teachings. The Indians lived in the word of his first and last breathe.

We live in the world when we can observe so much from looking and seeing with our eyes. That's something that mostly everyone was gifted with. We can see and look but we cant understand or we block out what we don't want to see. The Indians learned so much because they saw and adapted to new ways when they were pushed out of there land numerous times. This is a common teaching of the Lakota and they never took it for granite.

Reading #11

We never fight against nature, we adjust to it. We do it with no argument but with peace and no complaint.

We really can not control nature. So, it pointless to get upset over it and make excuses. Adjust to it and adapt to it as well. We live in times where we look for someone else to do our work because we are lazy, but that needs to change because we are capable of doing things ourselves.

Reading #10

Knowledge is giving down through the ancestors, through all nature that give us all we need. We learn from nature and that is to admire the beauty.

We can learn a lot just from going on a hike in the woods. We can see Gods infinite beauty towards us. We can see the love for Christ by looking at nature and animals and all of his other creations. The beauty for our faith can been seen in other human beings as well. When I say beauty I don't mean it in a sexual way, I mean it in non - sexual way, we are beautiful because we are created in the likeness and image of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Reading #8

The Indians who came to our colleges and universities came back 4 years later and our colonist way is good for nothing. The Indian people did send more people to there colleges as loyal and gratefulness but they ask to send 12 Americans to there school and they promise they will be good men.

We can learn a lot from different cultures and ethnic groups. We live in America but the school systems are even different in states, differently in different countries. With each culture comes selfishness because we can be selfish and put ourselves on a pedal stool. We live in times that we can still see bullying and racism because someone is an outcast and different from the common person.

Reading #7

They find happiness through peace and love and wealth and riches. It sounds like what the bible preaches, its easier for a poor man then a rich. The only wealth we need is our faith.

The bible says its hard for a rich man to enter heaven then for a camel to enter the eye of a needle. What does that mean? Is that we have all the riches in heaven that we need. We must live humbled lives like the native people did. They didn't need riches to be happy. They needed wanted a loving and caring relationship with there friend and family. That's there view of peace and that's the view of the bible as well.

Reading #6

Silence is the true politeness. Sometimes what you say isn't always what needs to be heard from others.

Silence is key, just because we think of the truth in our minds, doesn't mean it should always be spoken aloud. We need to THINK before we talk to others. Make sure were being polite young adults that we are. The words we say can impact people in a positive and negative way. They could make someone happy, or make someone sad. As my mother always said "If you don't have something nice to say, then don't say anything at all."

Reading #5

Actions speak louder then words. Speaking the truth is something that everyone should follow, be honest.

Everyone needs to speak the truth. Not only by our actions but by our words too. We need to speak with confidence, and with loyalty. The moment you get caught telling even the smallest lie, is the moment you are stuck being called a liar, and with that means you will lose freedom and our freedom is everything.

Reading #4

They love the nature, they see nature and treat nature as if it is a human being, living. We can really find ourselves through nature, just experiencing a sunset or rise, the trees, the winds, the landscape, is truly a breathe taking experience and I have not even come close to respect as much as the Indians did.

They gives thanks for what God has give me and them. Nature is something where we can experience the gift of Love that God gives us. Just sitting there embarrassing the sky, the trees, the wind etc. is God showing us his love and mercy through other objects, as well he does the same for house hold animals like dogs and cats too. God is out there, everywhere even, we just have to open our hearts and find him!

Reading #3

Men will die, without the beast that keep them on the edge.

The beast bring fear into men. It gives them courage as well, gives them strength to overcome, and motivation for a meal. Without the beast a man will be lonely. He will no longer fear what he use too. He will become a coward and he will be lonely. He will be lonely, not because he doesn't have a family but because he has no one thing to give him that edge that he needs.

Reading #2

Wealth is something that most people like, everyone shoots for that but all you need is the power of nature. Nature will always remain the same and while wealth will run out.

The bible says "Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 3:5. Which means being wealthy isn't always the best. God provides us this world full of nature and beauty and it is us who destroys, Gods creation. We assume wealth is what our hearts need but what we need is love. To be loved, and to give love just as Christ did. We are wrong when we search for wealth because we will have it all in Heaven.

Reading #1

Were all connected, whatever happens now in the earth, follows with the children.

We are all equals even though were different in culture, race, religion, ethnic, etc. That's what makes this world we live in beautiful, all the colors of everyone shows who we are and what we do as equals. We live in a world of greatness, with technology rising, this world becomes a lot easier, but we shouldn't forget the lessons we were taught by our ancestors. We will build this for the generation, and so on, that is why we must take care of it and make it more better then what already is.
